Harry Caunce

Lancashire artist whose work explores the landscapes, waterways and rural life of northern England, alongside coastal scenes inspired by places such as Galway Bay. Working in oils, he draws inspiration from Pendle Hill, the Ribble Valley and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, with subjects ranging from open moorland to boats and historic lock gates.
Painting outdoors is central to Harry’s practice. Many of his works are painted directly on location or developed from sketches made there, bringing a close observation of place, weather and atmosphere to each composition.
Pencil drawing has always been his first love, and his wider portfolio includes studies of farmers, sheepdogs and rural characters, as well as watercolours, townscapes and imaginative cartoons. Harry has also shared his techniques through demonstrations for art clubs, combining practical guidance with an engaging sense of humour.
