What we collect and why

  • Name, email, phone, delivery address, and what you bought. To take and fulfil your order and to contact you about it. Our lawful reason: to carry out our contract with you.
  • Order and payment records. We do not hold your card number. To keep accounts and tax records. Our lawful reason: a legal obligation.
  • Email address, and your name if you give it. To send you our newsletter. Our lawful reason: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • Whether a newsletter was opened, and which links were clicked. To see what people find interesting and improve our emails. Our lawful reason: your consent, given when you joined the list.
  • Messages you send us. To answer your enquiry. Our lawful reason: our legitimate interest in replying to you.

We collect newsletter sign-ups on the website, by a code you can scan in the gallery, and from the paper sign-up sheet on our counter.

Where a piece is sold on behalf of an artist, we tell the artist that it has sold. We do not pass them your contact details unless you ask us to.

Who we share it with

We never sell your information. We share it only with the services that help us run the gallery:

  • Stripe, which takes card payments.
  • Amazon Web Services, which delivers our emails.
  • Cloudflare, which hosts our website and stores our records.
  • Google, which provides our email mailbox.
  • Royal Mail, which needs your name, address and phone number to deliver your order.

Some of these services may process information outside the UK. Where they do, they are bound by the safeguards UK law requires.

How long we keep it

  • Order records: 6 years after the end of the tax year, as tax law requires.
  • Newsletter details: until you unsubscribe. We then keep only a note of your address so that we do not email you again.
  • Enquiries: up to 2 years.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, to delete it, to stop or limit how we use it, or to send it to you in a portable form. You can withdraw consent to the newsletter at any time using the unsubscribe link in every email, or by contacting us.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
