Rio Neville
Bradford-born oil painter whose work explores the atmosphere and character of Yorkshire and beyond. Her subjects range from traditional landscapes and nostalgic street scenes to cityscapes, seascapes and studies of the female form.
Having trained under northern impressionist Bob Barker, Rio combines traditional glazing techniques with a restrained colour palette to create depth and striking contrasts between light and shadow. Her paintings have a cinematic quality, with dramatic skies and carefully balanced light lending familiar places a powerful sense of mood.
At Abrahams Gallery, her work celebrates the evocative landscapes of Brontë Country and the distinctive beauty of the North. Through her atmospheric approach, Rio invites viewers to pause, look closer and find their own connection with the scene.
