Sally Ellis
Sally is a retired civil servant who discovered a joyful new chapter in life when she picked up a paintbrush just over four years ago. Born in Bradford and happily settled in Halifax for more than thirty years, she draws deep inspiration from the landscapes that have become home.
Her artistic journey has wandered through watercolour and acrylics, eventually leading her to the expressive freedom of palette-knife painting—a style she loves for its texture, movement, and wonderfully imperfect charm. Wildflowers are her favourite subjects, reminding her of lazy summer days and the quiet beauty found in nature’s small moments.
Much of Sally’s inspiration arrives while she’s out cycling, taking in the hedgerows and verges that line the countryside. Those gentle flashes of colour and life often find their way into her work, carrying with them the warmth and calm she feels along the way.
